project specifics

Since I haven't been super clear, all these pictures are being taken with my Nikon D80, and I'm processing them with Aperture.  Now I have some limitations since I'm working with a Macbook and it wasn't 'designed' with Aperture in mind, but I've found if I'm patient I can usually get what I need out of it.  Any other questions?

Day 4

Day 4. Wednesday, December 2nd 2009.  I felt completely unmotivated to take pictures of anything new today.  So I figured since I had the day off I would walk to my favorite sushi place just down the block and take a picture of the sushi case, and have a bit of lunch.  My plan was thwarted when I got to my destination and realized that they close from 2-5 most days to prep for happy hour.  So I just started taking pictures as I walked around my neighborhood.  This is probably one of the seediest looking motels I've seen, the pool looks like something our of a horror movie and the parking lot never has more than 2 cars in it.

Day 3

Day 3. Tuesday, December 1st 2009. This project seems to get a little harder with each click of my shutter. I'm not worried that I wont complete it, I'm already one day further than the last time I tried to do this, but I'm bad at looking for new things to look at. This picture wasn't even my original first choice, it was number two, but thankfully I decided to edit both of them. I realized that not only was this the better photo, but it was also one that I could be proud of. This wine rack is at the Cost Plus near my work and I randomly decided that it would be a good place to walk through after my lunch break today.

Day 2

Day 2, Monday November 30th 2009 Not as easy as day 1. I actually wasn't struck by anything in particular with my day. I was first very interested in a crane that was dangling close the the parking structure of the grove, when I noticed that the moon was already out at around 4:45 pm. I took a few pictures of the set up until I couldn't find anything else to shoot. I turned around and saw the sun setting and felt like an idiot for not noticing it sooner, but I saw it and snapped of a few to see if it looked nice on "film" and it did.

Day 1

So here it is, the first day. Day 1, from Sunday November 29th 2009. Jeff and I had people for a football/video game/tree trimming/post Thanksgiving drinking party. Jeff, Kelly and I did a little decorating; lights, bobbles, and a monkey atop the tree. I was staring at the tree and realized that I needed to take a picture. This was the first picture I took that day, well not this exact picture, but this shot. I came back to it a little later when the lighting had gotten better and the lights on the tree would really pop.

A new thing

I realize I have mostly neglected my blog for the better part of the year, what can I say the title says it all: I saw something shiny.

But I have a new project. Photo-a-day. It's just as simple as it sounds, I take one usable photo a day. I pick one of hopefully many pictures that I take through out the day, and then I will proceed to post them here. Now mind you I have already failed at this once, about 2 weeks ago. The bummer part is if I slip up on a day I have to start all over. It's 365 days of photos. Wish me luck, first 2 photos to follow soon!

*update* photo-a-day is a lame title. I'm thinking Project 365 sounds a lot better.
